What people are saying:

I used to come into your bookstore all the time on Princess. Now I live in Tokyo. The sad part about living in Tokyo is that I can't eat at EAT!. I just wanted to congratulate you on your great success with Aqua! It sounds as though things are going really great for you, and the business/thought-fostering centre/restaurant establishment is the thing my dreams are made of. I think that the community that you are helping to foster in Winnipeg is inspiring. If I was still living in Winnipeg, I'd probably never leave your store (provided there's a public bathroom). Anyway, Aqua Books is probably the thing about Winnipeg I miss most. I loved walking from my apartment in the Exchange to your store on the weekends to wither away the hours. It always smelled good in there. Does the Garry St. location smell equally good? I bet it does. - Lauren U., Tokyo

RETIRED/ON HIATUS

Until webmaster Sherman updates our menu system, this is where you can find some of our retired/defunct/on hiatus series. In the beginning, we did something called It Came from the Vault. It was a film series that may or may not come back. Maybe if everyone throws their Blu-rays and plasma TVs away. Our first reading series was a themed series by the name of Free Your Mind. This was our first collaboration with several writers who have since become great friends of Aqua, including Susie Moloney, Laurie Block, Anita Daher and Sarah Klassen. Sometimes a great series comes along that we can't say no to. In Conversation with Ron Robinson was one of these. Ron is a former CBC Radio heavyweight, and co-founder of McNally Robinson Booksellers. Unfortunately, Ron is very busy and is taking some time off from the series. Hopefully it will return when his schedule permits. Mary Louise Chown and her stable of storytellers are also taking a bit of a break. Magic of One Storytelling Concerts were happening four times a year or so. And last but not least, every year we have a Fringe show (or two) as part of the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. Past events for currently-running series can be found via the grey links on the menu above.
